BBB Industries Steering Rack and Pinion

BBB Industries · SKU SAP-00092 · Our ref 153-2052

The steering rack converts the wheel's rotation into the side-to-side movement that steers the front wheels. It is replaced for fluid leaks, play at the wheel, or a whine that follows steering input. Hydraulic and electric power steering racks are not interchangeable even on the same model, and electric units may need calibrating to the vehicle after fitting.

Supplied by BBB Industries.

In the box: 1 remanufactured steering rack; New inner tie rods where the application supplies them; Mounting bushings.

Common questions

Is this a hydraulic or an electric steering rack?
The two are entirely different parts and are never interchangeable on the same vehicle. A hydraulic rack has fluid lines running to it from a belt-driven pump; an electric rack has an electrical connector and a motor on the housing, and no fluid.
Does an electric steering rack need calibration after fitting?
Usually yes. The steering angle sensor has to be zeroed against the new rack so that stability control and lane-keeping systems know where straight ahead is. Without it, warning lights and off-centre assistance are normal.
What are the symptoms of a failing steering rack?
Fluid leaking from the boots on a hydraulic system, a whine that follows steering input, play or a dead spot at the centre of the wheel, and steering that is heavier in one direction than the other.

Checking the fit

We confirm the fit by hand on every order. Send your VIN, or the year, engine and trim, and a person checks this part against it before you pay.
