A 2014 Ram 1500 owner, NHTSA complaint 11762748: "This complaint is to report a power steering failure in my 2014 ram truck which has only 21,345 miles. The failure happened at the start up so there was no safety risk for me, but I understand from reading prior complaints that it can happen during driving. There was no warning or issue prior to the failure."

A 2016 Ram 1500 owner, NHTSA complaint 11763558: "The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while pulling out of the garage and onto the driveway, the steering wheel seized, and the message "Power Steering Needs to Be Serviced" was displayed. The contact turned off the vehicle."

Recalls that cover the steering rack on the 2013–2018 Ram 1500

• 16V167000, 2015 and 2016 models: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ram 1500 trucks manufactured January 22, 2015, to September 13, 2015. Contamination on the Electric Power Steering (EPS) control circuit board may cause a short and result in the loss of power steering assist. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EPS unit, free of charge.
