What 2019–2025 RAV4 owners report about the visibility

Owners have filed 24 complaints with NHTSA, the US federal vehicle-safety regulator, that mention a side mirror on the 2019–2025 Toyota RAV4, and 105 filed under its visibility. Those 24, by model year, as of September 18, 2026:

  • 2019 RAV4: 6 complaints
  • 2020 RAV4: 4 complaints
  • 2021 RAV4: 9 complaints
  • 2022 RAV4: 1 complaint
  • 2023 RAV4: 2 complaints
  • 2024 RAV4: 2 complaints
  • 2025 RAV4: none

NHTSA publishes complaints as owners wrote them and does not verify them, so read them as a pattern rather than a diagnosis.

A 2021 RAV4 owner, NHTSA complaint 11604478: "Purchased a 2021 Toyota Rav4 Limited and the side mirrors vibrate while driving to the point it is unsafe to use them as their intended purpose. Nationally, Toyota seems to have acknowledged the problem via T-SB-0079-20 and only covers them on vehicles with 36k miles or 36,000 miles."

A 2023 RAV4 owner, NHTSA complaint 11699895: "The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger’s side blind spot warning system located on the exterior side mirror failed to function as intended. The light flashed on the side mirror; however, the beeping sound was inaudible."

Recalls that cover the side mirror on the 2019–2025 RAV4

As of September 18, 2026, NHTSA lists no recall on the 2019–2025 Toyota RAV4 whose defect is in the side mirror. If your car has a warning light or a symptom that a recall could explain, check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls anyway — it takes a minute.

Which side mirror a 2019–2025 RAV4 takes

Mirrors differ by heat, turn signal, blind-spot indicator, camera and power fold, which vary by trim more than by year. The 2019–2025 Toyota RAV4 came with several powertrains, among them 2.5L I4 Automatic AWD and 2.5L I4 CVT AWD. That is why we ask for the VIN, or the year, engine and trim, and confirm the part against it before you pay rather than after it arrives.
