A brake rotor is the metal disc the brake pads clamp onto. Rotors are replaced when they fall below a minimum thickness stamped on the hub or when warping causes pedal pulsation. Diameter, thickness and hub bore vary by vehicle, so a rotor that fits one trim may not fit another.
