What 2019–2025 Corolla owners report about the fuel system
Owners have filed 22 complaints with NHTSA, the US federal vehicle-safety regulator, that mention the fuel pump on the 2019–2025 Toyota Corolla, and 67 filed under its fuel system. Those 22, by model year, as of September 18, 2026:
- 2019 Corolla: 14 complaints
- 2020 Corolla: 6 complaints
- 2021 Corolla: none
- 2022 Corolla: none
- 2023 Corolla: 2 complaints
- 2024 Corolla: none
- 2025 Corolla: none
NHTSA publishes complaints as owners wrote them and does not verify them, so read them as a pattern rather than a diagnosis.
A 2019 Corolla owner, NHTSA complaint 11724036: "Error message that said 'drive start control malfunction. Took 6 mos and numerous attempts to resolve. Replaced numerous parts including the fuel pump because the plastic it's made out of was just disintegrating and and cracking. This has cost thousands of dollars in parts and labor."
A 2020 Corolla owner, NHTSA complaint 11668991: "Fuel pump system failure causing vehicle warning lights to come on and not turn off, affecting vehicle performance for going up hill as well as vehicle completely shutting off in middle of road . Major safety hazard"

Which fuel pump module a 2019–2025 Corolla takes
Modules differ by tank size, by engine, and between two- and four-wheel-drive versions that route the tank differently. The 2019–2025 Toyota Corolla came with several powertrains, among them 1.8L I4 CVT FWD and 2.0L I4 CVT FWD. That is why we ask for the VIN, or the year, engine and trim, and confirm the part against it before you pay rather than after it arrives.
