Brake Caliper Pair for the 2016–2021 Honda Civic

What 2016–2021 Civic owners report about the brakes

Owners have filed 3 complaints with NHTSA, the US federal vehicle-safety regulator, that mention a brake caliper on the 2016–2021 Honda Civic, and 207 filed under its brakes. Those 3, by model year, as of September 18, 2026:

• 2016 Civic: 2 complaints
• 2017 Civic: none
• 2018 Civic: none
• 2019 Civic: none
• 2020 Civic: none
• 2021 Civic: 1 complaint

NHTSA publishes complaints as owners wrote them and does not verify them, so read them as a pattern rather than a diagnosis.

A 2021 Civic owner, NHTSA complaint 11632366: "On multiple occasions my car has applied the brake while driving on the highway as well as my caliper has become frozen and I have replaced brakes 3 times in less than one calendar year. I have all old brakes that have needed to be replaced and there is uneven wear on them."

Recalls that cover the brake caliper on the 2016–2021 Civic

As of September 18, 2026, NHTSA lists no recall on the 2016–2021 Honda Civic whose defect is in the brake caliper. If your car has a warning light or a symptom that a recall could explain, check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls anyway — it takes a minute.

Which brake caliper a 2016–2021 Civic takes

Calipers differ by brake package — trims with larger rotors take larger calipers — and by axle and side. The 2016–2021 Honda Civic came with several powertrains, among them 1.5L I4 CVT FWD, 2.0L I4 CVT FWD and 2.0L I4 Manual FWD. That is why we ask for the VIN, or the year, engine and trim, and confirm the part against it before you pay rather than after it arrives.
