INA Water Pump and Timing Belt Kit
INA · SKU SAP-00105 · Our ref ZD965
On a belt-driven engine the water pump is turned by the timing belt, so both are replaced together — the pump is behind the belt and reaching it is most of the labour. Doing one without the other means paying that labour twice within a few years. Interference engines will bend valves if the belt breaks, which is why this is a scheduled job rather than a wait-and-see one.
Supplied by INA.
In the box: 1 timing belt; 1 water pump with gasket; Tensioner and idler pulleys; Seals where the application supplies them.

Common questions
- Why replace the water pump with the timing belt?
- Because the belt drives the pump and sits in front of it. Reaching the pump means removing the belt, so doing them separately means paying the same labour twice within a few years — and a pump that fails later destroys the new belt with it.
- Is my engine an interference engine?
- On an interference engine the valves and pistons occupy the same space at different moments, so a snapped timing belt causes them to collide and bends valves. Most modern engines are interference designs, which is why belt replacement is scheduled rather than left until it fails.
- How often should a timing belt be replaced?
- Typically every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, or on a time interval of around seven years, whichever comes first. Rubber ages whether the car is driven or not, so mileage alone is not the whole answer.
- Does this fit an engine with a timing chain?
- No. A timing chain runs in oil inside the engine and is a different repair entirely, usually far more involved. A timing belt kit only fits an engine designed around a belt.
